8 am on Sunday

Our early morning service is for those who prefer a quiet, reflective but also very traditional service of Holy Communion.

The 8 am service uses The Book of Common Prayer for Holy Communion. The language is traditional (lots of thee’s and thou’s) but also poetic and many people value it for its rich theology and worshipful cadence.

There is no hymn singing, very little instruction (we just open the book and begin) and space is sometimes left for quiet reflection and prayer within the service. Overall, it lasts just over 30 minutes.

10.00 am on Sunday

The main morning service takes place at 10.00 a.m. each Sunday. On the second Sunday of each month, it is an All-Age Service in which children are involved throughout, the feel is a little more informal and Communion is not celebrated which makes the service both shorter and a little more accessible for children.

On the other Sundays of each month, we use Common Worship liturgy for Holy Communion or Morning Prayer. The language is contemporary and easier to understand. There’s plenty of guidance and instruction for the beginner and we sing a number of hymns and songs with our organist and choir leading the way.

Approximately once a month, the Sunday service is not eucharistic and follows the pattern of Morning Prayer. Regardless of the form of service, Sunday School is provided for the children. Overall, the service lasts just over an hour.

10.00 am on Tuesday

A small number of people gather each Tuesday morning at 10.00 a.m. to say Morning Prayer together. There is no hymn singing, no sermon and the focus is on prayer and allowing the words of the liturgy to speak for themselves. Overall, it lasts around 30 minutes.
