Notices, 10 December

Here are the latest notices and relevant information for West Malling and Offham.

Christmas cards in West Malling

Canon Alan will be selling Christmas cards after services on Sunday December 3rd in aid of the Choir Scholarship Fund. Prices remain at pre-pandemic levels, £2.50 per pack of 5.

NSPCC Christmas Fayre thank you

The Offham and West Malling NSPCC supporter group wish to extend their huge thanks to all those kind people who supported our Charity Christmas Fayre a fortnight ago. They raised nearly £3,000, which is just amazing.

No Wednesday Communion on December 13th

Due to West Malling School’s End-of-Term service we are unable to host a service of Holy Communion in its usual slot on Wednesday the 13th of December at St Mary’s. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Lavenders Carol Choir, 20 December

We will be leading the Christmas service on 20 December at 11 a.m. at Lavenders Residential Care Home. We would very much value some willing singers to lead the carols. Please talk to David or Kelly if you can help.

Team Messy Church

Our next Messy Church takes place after Christmas on Sunday 28 January at 4pm and this time will be hosted at Trottiscliffe Village Hall. Lots of things to make and do, followed by informal worship and tea. This is an event mainly for primary school children and their families. Everyone is welcome but no unaccompanied children please.

Warm Spaces 2023/4

All of the West Malling churches are collaborating on the Warm Spaces project at Abbey View House (next to the Baptist Church) in West Malling every other Monday, 11:00-1:00 to offer hot drinks, soup and a roll (from 12 noon) and a warm space in which to spend some time and meet others. Please do come down if you need to stay warm or would appreciate some company.

The organisers are looking for some volunteers to help. At present, the worst-case scenario would be needing to help once every eight weeks so it’s not a heavy commitment. But, as always, many hands make light work. Churches Together are also happy to receive financial contributions from those who feel able. It costs about £6 per session to heat the Abbey View House.

To find out more, chat to Rev David, Rev Kelly or Isobel Macdonald. Or you can contact Charlotte Brooks of Churches Together – charlottebrooks456@gmail.com.
