Notices, 4 April 2021
Here are the latest notices and relevant information for the Benefice.
Return to Public Worship in the church buildings
Public Worship has now resumed in our church buildings. A number of Covid-safety restrictions remain in place but worship is now taking place in the church buildings each week. You can find out more about this news elsewhere on our website.
Online Worship will continue as well. We recognise that, for whatever reason, various people are unable to be present in our church buildings for worship at the moment and so Online Worship will remain an important part of what we continue to do together.
“After church” Coffee on Zoom has finished for now
While we appreciate that some individuals and households may not yet feel comfortable returning to services in church, the fact that services are now taking place means that Rev David is not available on Sunday mornings to host the ‘After church coffee’ on Zoom.
If anyone would be interested in taking on the responsibility for hosting these sessions, please speak to Rev David directly. For the time being, unless we can find a suitable person to host, those sessions will need to finish.
Annual Parochial Meetings in April
The parishes’ annual meetings (APCM) will be taking place in the next couple of weeks. St Michael’s, Offham APCM will take place on Monday the 19th of April at 7.30 p.m. St Mary’s, West Malling have their APCM a day later on Tuesday the 20th of April at 7.30 p.m.
Because our buildings have limited capacity at present because of Covid-safety regulations, the only fair way to ensure that everyone who wishes to attend can attend (and vote), the APCMs will be taking place online using Zoom teleconferencing. An invitation will be sent out to everyone on the Electoral Roll, but if you don’t get the email and want to specifically ask for the link, please do contact the church office.
The Annual Report for 2020, including the audited accounts, will be made available in church and online from the 11th of April onwards.
New project launch for music at St Mary’s
In St Mary’s last Sunday, Rev David and our Director of Music, Richard Hammond-Hall, launched a new scheme for Choir and Organ Scholars who we hope to recruit later this year. Right now, we are hoping that the St Mary’s congregation would like to be part of our fundraising for the project.
You can find out more about the scheme on our website and watch a video which David and Richard have recorded to tell you all about our plans!
Volunteer Networks in West Malling and Offham
St Mary’s in West Malling and St Michael’s in Offham are working with the respective Parish Councils, local clubs, other churches, community groups, societies and agencies to provide a network of volunteers who want to help, and link them with people who need help during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In both communities, the networks are actively serving those who have to shield and stay at home during this current lockdown. To sign-up to help as a volunteer or to ask for help from the Network, please click the respective button below to find out more about the West Malling Volunteers if you live in West Malling. Or, if you live in Offham, click the button to sign-up to the Offham Community Network.
David taking time off
In the usual way for Clergy, Rev David’s post-Easter break will run from the 5th of April to the 11th of April inclusive.
